Peeking through architectural details of the neighbourhood
Peeking through architectural details of the neighbourhood

Mr. K and I live in a HDB (Housing Development Board) apartment with 3 bedrooms. For the uninitiated, most of us live in government aided housing in Singapore. During our nation building years since 1965, many of our fore fathers were relocated from their farm houses (aka “attap houses”) to government aided housing built by HDB. The nation has since been peppered with highrise apartments ever since, an important step to ensure adequate housing for everyone.

Some say apartment living makes you want to head outside more than spending quality life at home. I guessed that is why you will see cute seniors roaming around in my neighbourhood, chatting and having coffee with their neighbours.  I choose to disagree that we cannot have quality life in the comfort of our tiny apartment.

In fact, life in and around of our apartment is what this blog will be heavily based upon. Along with some of my adventures out of the country in South East Asia and other electic parts of Singapore, most of the content would be centered around what is considered “home” to me.

Whether it is where the coffee lingers or what ancient card games the old ladies are playing at the void deck of my block, I hope to capture some facets of how apartment living in Singapore can be fun and interesting.

Do you live in an apartment? Do you find living in one enjoyable?
